The book deals with the critical approach of Ibn Jarir al-Tabari in his interpretation, and explains the critical foundations (transmitted and theoretical) that he adopted in criticizing interpretation, and his approach in studying the statements of interpreters with the different ranks of their owners, and their variation in terms of strength and weakness. The book also monitors how al-Tabari dealt with opposing approaches (interpretations of the people of innovation), interpretation by forbidden opinion, the position on Israelite stories, and interpretation by mere language, and the effect of that on his critical approach, and shows the extent of the consistency of his approach in criticizing statements and approaches.
