This study focuses on the study of consensus in the interpretation of Imam Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (d. 310 AH). The topic of consensus in interpretation is one of the most important things that anyone interested in interpretation must know. This is due to the status of consensus among the legal evidence, and the status of consensus in interpretation among the sciences related to interpretation. Through it, the words of God Almighty are interpreted with correct meanings, and through it, reassurance is obtained regarding the meanings that have been agreed upon, and through it, the side of interpretation is protected from deviant and reprehensible interpretations. These studies have produced accurate scientific results that clearly demonstrate al-Tabari’s position on relying on consensus in his interpretation.
